John Schubert

Lead Pastor

Pastor John Schubert became the pastor of Living Hope in the summer of 2010. He is married to Joy and they have one son, Austin.

John is passionate about Jesus and loves leading and pointing others to Him. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, hiking, and riding ATVs. He is a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and RAM trucks!

His favorite Bible passage is Ephesians 3:18-19: “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.”

What We Believe

We believe the Bible is the Word of God for all people. We believe it’s authoritative, inerrant and infallible. The Bible reveals the story of a loving God, who wants all people to be saved. The primary message of the Bible is the Gospel, which proclaims God’s gift of free salvation for all who receive His gift of grace. At Living Hope, we strive to lovingly and faithfully proclaim God’s grace, the whole truth of God’s Word, and more grace.

We believe Jesus came to this earth miraculously by virgin birth. He lived a perfect life here on earth and one day gave up His life, on the cross, to fulfill the plan of salvation. Three days later, he literally rose up and walked out of His grave, eternally defeating sin, death and the power of the devil. Jesus ascended into heaven; He is there now, sitting at the right hand of God, and one day will come back to earth to bring all believers with Him to heaven.

We believe the Holy Spirit comes from the Father and Son to bring people to faith in Jesus. He lives inside each believer to remind us of our salvation, to enable us to grow in our faith, to help us faithfully follow Jesus and to live out our faith all the days of our life. The Holy Spirit guides us, helps us understand and apply the Bible, and helps us lead other people to the good news of salvation.

We believe Jesus created baptism for every single person. He stated that as clearly as He possibly could in His final words here on earth. The Bible teaches that all people, including infants, are sinful and are in need of salvation. Baptism is 100% a gift of God. Through a combination of His Holy Word and water, God makes a covenant or promise of salvation for all people. In baptism, we receive the forgiveness of all our sins – past, present and future, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the sure and certain promise of salvation, and are spiritually reborn.

We believe that the night before He died on the cross, Jesus was celebrating the traditional Jewish Passover with His disciples. He recreated the Passover that night and gave us the Holy Meal known as Communion. Jesus, “took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’” (Luke 22:19-20) When we participate in Holy Communion, we receive the forgiveness of our sins, we’re reminded of our salvation, we receive strength to faithfully and passionately follow Jesus Christ in our daily lives, and we have the privilege of boldly proclaiming the message of the Gospel.
